St. Luke's Lutheran Church - Logan Square - I began volunteering time at St. Luke's Lutheran Church when asked to help with color specifications for interior painting renovations, and has since developed to in much more than picking out paint colors.
Thru the years I've worked with St. Luke's to develop relationships with non-profits and community development groups to transform St. Luke's not only a welcoming, sustaining place of worship, but a neighborhood center for all community members - regardless of faith. They most certainly did not need me to make their visions come true - community outreach is a core value of the church, I am grateful to have been able to facilitate some of the progress.
An ongoing project we are working on is the renovation of the original chapel that thru years of use and neglect now sits empty. We have worked to clean the space and make it presentable to architects and engineers who have been brought in to assess the situation, and what the challenges will be for renovation work. The church has recently registered for the 1% program with hopes of furthering the renovation of the chapel space.
The ultimate goal for the the old chapel is to create a community performance space that would bring community members and revenue in to the church.
Below are images documenting spaces in the church.
